“ Let me cut to the chase - They serve some pretty damn good Jamaican food here! We dropped in on a random Wednesday afternoon at 11:50 AM and, despite being located on a main road, it was fairly quiet, which is exactly how I like it when I arrive anywhere - pretttttttty much before the chaos starts. And yes it did get much busier 30 minutes after we arrived. We were greeted by an extremely friendly employee who explained to us how the food was served AND she even let us sample 3 different types of chicken! In all of the years that I've gone to a takeout style type of restaurant, I NEVERRRR was given the opportunity to actually sample the entree food ... NOT ONCE. Ultimately, my wife and I both ordered a Jerk'd Ready Bowl, which came with 1 protein + 3 sides. My wife ordered the Brown Stew Chicken + Steamed Cabbage, Braised Greens and Roasted Beats. I, on the other hand, ordered the Curry Chicken Boneless + Roasted Sweet Potato, Garlic Mashed Potato and Fried Sweet Plantains. The servings of the food were more than fair and it was ALLLLLLLLL absoluttttttely delicious. No complaints what so ever. The chicken for both the Stew and Curry were very tender. Both came with lots of sauce, which was perfect if we had ordered rice. The sides were excellent too - every single one of them. I have a Jamaican restaurant spot that I always frequent in Hackensack, but after coming to Jerk'D I think that's about to change big time. The food was fresh, plentiful and, most importantly, flavorful! ”
“ Been wanting to check out this spot for a while since there aren't many Jamaican spots in the area. The appearance is clean and the staff was welcoming. Asking if we had been there before and provided recommendations . Jerk Chicken was a little dry but the jerk sauce elevates it. Oxtail with rice and peas , sweet potato and collard greens was a definite hit. I just think the meat portion was stingy, as there were mostly bones. It was quite tasty though. Their veggie patty isn't good at all, not sure what veggies are in there , no taste and crust is like cardboard. ”
“ Came again because this place is rapidly becoming our favorite "pre-flight carry-on". However I am having a moment of deep depression, because this time when we went, we did not see the tamarind BBQ pork on the menu. When I came here last year, it was the centerpiece of the experience. Look the rest of what we did order was amazing (Oxtail was A+ tender, Okra was so yum. Mac and Cheese was to die for. Jerk Chicken always good). But please bring back the tamarind bbq pork. Or at least may I please have the recipe it was that good. I'm about to go online and buy pimento wood and learn the art of smoking bbq just so that I can have it again. ”
“ This place is a winner! I feel like it's a hidden gem and I hope it maintains its high quality of food. Generous portion of oxtail! I was highly impressed with the servers scoops but I was like yes girl! I am here for it. Pairs perfectly with the jasmine white rice. The mac and cheese is so homely and feels a hug. The greens were good but since I'm not a huge fan of bell peppers I didn't love that flavor coming through. However there are plenty of other sides to pick from and I'll be back to try them all. Clean restaurant, I think most ppl order delivery as we were the only ones eating in. Staff was nice, especially the girl who served us, wish I got her name. I would say based on the crowd coming in that this place is authentic in their food. ”
“ Ordered the brown stew chicken with rice and peas, greens and Mac n cheese. Rice and peas tasted so good, you can taste the coconut flavor popping through in the rice and peas! Fall off the bones meat in the brown stew chicken. Greens was flavor-full and Mac n' cheese was good too! My fave was the cod fritters, made to order...crunchy on the outside soft on the inside, actual salted cod used to make these fritters. Unfortunate they did not have their ranch onion dip to go with. ”
“ I'd say this place is more of a 3.5, I rounded up. The food is out on display, as you walk in. You order and the food is served cafeteria style. There's several different types of meats and side dishes that you can choose from. I've been here on a couple of different occasions, so I've tried a few different types of meats and side dishes. I'd say the food overall is pretty decent and flavorful without being overbearing. The portion sizes are a bit on the smaller side and the combos are big pricey. ”
“ Looking for amazing Jamaican food but don't want to travel ? Look no further because nestled in the heart of Hackensack is this true Jamaican hidden gem! Get the soursoup lemonade to cool off from the heat ! The jerk wings were amazing and so was the greens and the mac & cheese! The staff was friendly, and I was definitely Vibin to the music. ”
